Aside from the abovementioned ways to reduce pain, medication is another factor to relieve the pain. Tramadol pain medication is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. It also may be used to treat pain caused by surgery and chronic conditions such as cancer or joint pain. Tramadol works by decreasing the brain’s detection and reaction to pain. It also reduces the size or magnitude of the pain signal passed from one nerve to another. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses. Tramadol comes as a tablet to take it orally. It usually is taken every 4-6 hours as needed.

You should not take tramadol if you have ever been addicted to drugs or alcohol, if you are currently intoxicated, if you have recently used alcohol, narcotic pain medicine, sedatives or tranquilizers, medicine for depression or anxiety, medicine for mental illness or street drugs. Tramadol may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for.
